Mr. Sammy Lee Wilbourn, 80, died Monday, April 27, 2020, at Baptist Memorial Hospital North MS in Oxford. Waller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Yalobusha County, MS, Mr. Wilbourn worked in maintenance and refrigeration and was a Baptist. He spent any chance he had outdoors working in his yard or cutting grass and enjoyed hot rods and watching racing. He especially loved camping, even if it meant taking his RV less than a mile from home. His prized procession was his 55 Chevy that was painted “Gulf Station Orange” and affectionately called “Tell Mama”. Above all, he was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather who was devoted to his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny Marvin and Alberta Louise Haire Wilbourn.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy Ann Redwine Wilbourn of Water Valley, MS; a daughter, Tammy Leigh Wilbourn Gordon and her husband, Scotty of Coffeeville, MS; three sons, James Dale Wilbourn and his wife, Chris of Grenada, MS, Samuel Tyrone Wilbourn and his wife, Rhonda of Water Valley, MS and Kevin Scott Wilbourn and his wife, Jewel of Water Valley, MS; a sister, Mary Jane Stewart and her husband, Bill of Water Valley, MS; a brother, Marvin Dale Wilbourn and his wife, Arlene of Water Valley, MS; nineteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
