Mr. Douglas Lamar Dendy, 80, passed away on May 3, 2020 at Diversicare in Eupora. Lamar was born on April 3, 1940, in Chickasaw County, the son of the late Ellis Adron and Jewel Lorene Dendy. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, where he was a truck mechanic. He was a Maintenance Superintendent at Bryan Foods for 40 years. He was a member of Pine Bluff Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and in multiple other capacities. He was very proud of his military service and his years at Bryan Foods. He was an avid Mississippi State football and softball fan. He enjoyed gardening and was meticulous about keeping his grass mowed. He loved to water ski and was known as one of the best water skiers around. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He was very devoted to his extended family and he loved his dog "Rooster". He married Cora Wright Dendy on October 6, 1963 at Pine Bluff Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters: Joyce Eaton, Mary Brand, and Josephine Dendy and four brothers: Pete, Marion, Phillip and T. A. Dendy.

Due to current health conditions, a private family graveside service will be on Wednesday, May 6, 2020, from Pine Bluff Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Butch Simmons officiating and assisted by Mr. Lowell Thompson. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Cora W. Dendy of Mantee: one daughter, Christi Carter (Steve): one granddaughter, Stevi Carter, one grandson, Cole Carter, all of Starkville and one sister, Julie Fay Thrash (Sam) of Columbus.

Pallbearers will be Steve Carter, Cole Carter, Jason Gilliland, Chris Stephenson, Carl Middleton, and Dan Vaughn.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Lonnie Brand, Johnny Gilliland, Donald Moore, Mark Hughes, David Orman and Lee Baugh.
