Mr. Winerford W. Hope, Jr., 82, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at The Blake in Oxford, MS. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Waller Funeral Home is charge of arrangements.
Born in Ruleville, MS to the late Winerford Winston Hope, Sr. and Estell McNeely Hope, Mr. Hope grew up in Clarksdale, MS attending Friars Point School. He was an active member of Harmontown Baptist Church serving in the Bus Ministry, Teen Kids and Deacon Ministry. Winerford owned 3 gas stations, worked as a machinist at Quebecor (stated GCBIU) Publishing Company, loved raising cows (Polled Herefords) and tree farming. He enjoyed playing in his barn and operating his tractor and loved his grandchildren. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Jon-Eric Hope.
Mr. Hope is survived by his wife of 64 years, Laura M. Bryant Hope of Abbeville, MS; daughter, Sherry Shirley (Harvey) of Oxford, MS; two sons, Randy Hope (Cheryl) of Abbeville, MS and Terry Hope (Karen) of Harrison, AR; two sisters, Helen Topper (John) of Clarksdale, MS and Carol Wright (William) of Jackson, MS; six grandchildren, Shane, Mandy, Kalin, Ian and Breanna and five great grandchildren.
