Ottis “Pop” Wayne McCormick, 74, of Saltillo passed from this life on June 8, 2020 at his home after an extended illness. Born on November 6, 1945 in Bruce, Ottis was a son to the late Ira McCormick and Euris (Tutor) McCormick.

Ottis, a true man of God, was ordained as a deacon June 11, 1978 where he faithfully served in this role of church leadership for many years. Ottis not only attended First Baptist Church Satillo, but also he actively participated in the church and building the kingdom as member of the Joy Club. Along with his participation, he greeted each person with a smiling face every Sunday morning, and served as an usher when needed. Ottis had a passion and a deep love for the Ole Miss Rebels where he could be cheering them on every Saturday morning in the fall.  Ottis didn’t simply pass away, he held in his soul the cure to death, a relationship with Jesus.

Ottis leaves behind a loving family to carry his memory in their hearts; wife, Jimmie Kaye Hill McCormick of Saltillo, Mississippi: son, Jonathan Wayne McCormick and his wife Peggy of Booneville, Mississippi; Three Brothers: E.L “Buncky” McCormick and wife Louise McCormick of Bruce, Mississippi; J.M “Jam Up” McCormick and wife Virginia McCormick of Bruce, Mississippi; J.D “Peanut” McCormick and wife Virginia Raye McCormick of Bruce of Sarepta, Mississippi; one sister, Bobbie Frizzell Watkins and Husband Harvie of Abbeville, Mississippi.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira McCormick and Euris (Tutor) McCormick; brothers: Melvis McCormick and Clovis McCormick; sisters; Idell York and Dorothy Harville.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 11, 2020 from 5:00P.M -8:00P.M at Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Bruce. A funeral service remembering the life of Ottis will take place on Friday, June 12, 2020 in the Chapel of Parker Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Ronnie Hatfield, Bro.Darrell Logan, Bro. Bruce Hill, and Bro. Bret McKee officiating.  Ron Burcham, Russell Pardin , Gary McCormick, Kevin McCormick, Lynn McCormick, Matthew McCormick, Perry McCormick, and Tony McCormick will carry Ottis to rest in Pittsboro Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Joy Club, Prasie Sunday School Class, Ladies Funeral Ministry, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to First Baptist Church 311 Mobile St Saltillo, MS. 38866. Food Pantry, Operation Christmas Child and Freedom Cafe.
