Berene Haire James

Berene Haire James of Bruce departed for her place of eternal rest after 85 years of life on June 25, 2020 at the Bruce Community Living Center. Born on March 29, 1935 in the Rocky Mount Community, Berene was a daughter to the late Earnest Wesley Haire and Inez Murphree Haire.

Berene, a beautician, attended Bonds Beauty College where learned the tricks and trades of cosmetology. She stood before her salon chair for an impressive forty years teasing and curling hair. Berene didn’t lounge after retirement; she stayed active in her garden and kept her sewing machine churning out creations. She found leisure in coloring beautiful pictures, and keeping her mind sharp with word searches. Berene, a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church, knew the Lord and delighted in His promise of eternal life.

She leaves behind a loving to family to cherish her memory in their hearts for the remainder of their days; one daughter, Linda (Todd) Eaton of Bruce; one son, Tommy Laderl James Jr.(Oralia) of Houlka; four grandchildren: Courtney James, Haley Chennault, Robin Eaton, and Mary Alon James; three great grandchildren: Joey Moss, Georgia Moss, and Jaxton Chennault; brother-in-law, Billy Van James of Houlka; sister-in-law, Gladys Haire of Pontotoc.

Berene was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Laderl James; parents, Earnest Wesley Haire and Inez Murphree Haire; two brothers: Labon D Haire, and Fred Haire; two sisters: Martha Reeder, and Faye White.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 28, 2020 at from 1:00 PM-3:00 PM at Poplar Springs Baptist Church. The Funeral Service remembering Brene's life will take place on Sunday, 28 2020 at 3:00 PM in the Sanctuary of Poplar Springs Baptist Church with Bro.David Haggerty officiating. Curtis Bray, Jason Dye, Anthony Haire, Michael Haire, Joey McCammon, and Jerry Haire will carry Berene to rest in Poplar Springs Cemetery.
