Ms. Birdie Jones Bafford, 69, transitioned on Friday, June 26, 2020 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS.

Birdie Mae Jones Bafford entered this life on December 31, 1950 in Potts Camp, MS. She was born the second child to the late L. C. Jones and the late Bernice Porter Jones and named after her late parental grandmother, Ardena ReBirdia Maebelle McIntosh. Birdie Mae was granted her angelic wings at the age of 69 on June 26, 2020.

As a child, Birdie Mae was introduced to holiness by her parents and became a member of True Bibleway Church of the Lord Jesus Christ under the leadership of Bishop F.M. Dawson. After many years, her illnesses affected her long-term abilities and caused her to settle in New Albany, MS. She wanted to remain under the holiness doctrine, so she later joined New Beginning Church pastored by Bishop Willie G. Ball. After his death, she remained a member of New Beginning which is directed by Pastor, Steavan Ball.

Birdie Mae became ill as a young adult and struggled with various illnesses for a long time but always remained faithful to her church. She was still an active member until her death. Everyone who knew Birdie Mae can accentuate the fact she was a loving, caring, long-suffering and meek Christian. She was such a pleasant spirit to be around. Birdie Mae was also well-known for her marvelous cooking and wonderful domestic skills.

She leaves to cherish her memories, three children, a daughter, Joyce (Riley) Howell-Bailey of Potts Camp, MS , two sons, Minister, Darrell (Tammy) Oglesby of Dallas, TX and Pastor, Neives (Asia) Oglesby of Cherry Valley, AR; two brothers, Charles Jones of Blue Springs, MS and Marcus Jones of Laredo, TX; three sisters, Rebecca Seay of Memphis, TN, Gwendolyn (Peter) Obasuyi of Cordova, TN and Karen Decanter of Myrtle, MS.; 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and friend; a special godchild, Emanuel Jones and a very special friend Mickey  Woods. She was preceded in death by one brother, Calvin Jones and one sister, Annette Lipsey Jones.

Visitation will be on Thursday, July 2, 2020 from 10 a.m. until 12 Noon at the funeral home. Serenity-Simmons Funeral Home of New Albany is in charge of the arrangements.

  1. Fear Bafford Family, I want to say that I am deeply sorry for your loss and would like to share a scripture with the you. It is found at Acts 24:15 and speaks of a “resurrection of the righteous and the unrighteous. ”
    Yes God, whose name is Jehovah, has promised to bring our loved ones back to life. Many people find it comforting to know that they will be able to see their loved ones again. I hope you find comfort and encouragement in this message during this difficult time.
