Howard Monroe Galloway

Howard Monroe Galloway,83, of Calhoun City departed for his eternal home on July 4, 2020, at his residence. Born on April 21, 1937, in Houlka, Monroe was a son to the late Wesley Monroe Galloway and Sophia Modean Washington Galloway.

Monroe, a retired supervisor, worked in the furniture manufacturing industry at Cottage Lane before retiring. Upon his retirement, Monroe found a new job practicing his hobbies fulltime. He spent many hours chasing rabbits while on the thrill of a hunt. When the weather was right and the fish were biting, Monroe could be found on the lake fishing. While Monroe was quite the outdoorsman, he also carried a green thumb that was notorious for producing tomatoes.  Aside from his hobbies, Monroe deeply loved and valued each member of his family. Monroe knew the Lord and His promise of eternal life and worshipped when he was able at Baileyville Baptist Church.

Monroe is survived by an expansive family that will carry his memory in their hearts for the remainder of their days; wife, Geneva Brassfield Galloway; three sons: Andy Galloway of Amory, Mississippi; Ben Galloway of Vardaman, Mississippi; Lynn (Deb) Galloway of Houston, Texas; one stepson, Robert (Laura) Gulledge of Calhoun City, Mississippi; one daughter, Amy (Jerry) Buford of Tupelo, Mississippi; three stepdaughters: Brenda (James) Tallent of Vardaman, Mississippi; Gloria (John) Odom of Calhoun City, Mississippi; Vickie Chandler of Calhoun City, Mississippi; three brothers: Bailey(Sara) Galloway of Pontotoc, Mississippi; David Galloway of Sulligent, Alabama; Roger Galloway of Montgomery, Alabama; and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley Monroe Galloway and Sophia Modean Washington Galloway; one son, David Galloway; one daughter, Lisa Galloway; and one sister, Ann Hill.

The family will receive friends on Monday, July 6, 2020, at from 5:00 PM-8:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home of Bruce. The Funeral Service remembering Monroe's life will take place on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Parker Memorial Funeral Home with Bro. Billy Miller  and Bro. Thomas Galloway officiating.  Jacob Gulledge, Sean Galloway, Bradley Langley, Chris Lucius, Josh Monaghan, Tony Morgan, John Odom, and Larry Tidwell will carry Monroe to rest in Oak Springs Cemetery. Chris Caviness, Dr. Bruce Longest, Jessie Lindsay, Bobby Fletcher, Mike Lane, and Kemp Lucius will serve as honorary pallbearers
