Opal Wilson Newman, 87, of Paris, Mississippi passed from this life on Sunday, July 05, 2020, at Yalobusha General Hospital and Nursing Home in Water Valley, Mississippi. Born on October 5, 1932, in Calhoun County, Opal was a daughter to the late Freeman C. Wilson and Mary Christine Newman Wilson.

Opal was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend to many. She possessed a beautiful smile. Opal, a positive woman by nature, always had encouraging words to share with those she loved and strangers alike. She found employment with the Holley Carburetor Company from the time the plant opened until she was able to retire. Opal knew the Lord and His promise of eternal life and worshipped when she was able at Paris Baptist Church.

Opal leaves behind a precious family to carry on her legacy of love;two daughters: Sandra Hodges of Toccopola, Mississippi; Twyla (Eddie) Morris of Randolph, Mississippi; three grandchildren: Cynthia (Dwayne) Morris, Nathan Hodges, and Hileah Hodges; two great grandchildren: Amber Morris and Parker Morris; one brother, Gene Wilson of Tula, Mississippi.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Anderson Newman, parents: Freeman C. Wilson and Mary Christine Newman Wilson, two brothers: Roy C. Wilson and James C. Wilson; one son-in-law, James L. Hodges Jr.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 in the Banner Cemetery from 9:30AM-10:30AM with a graveside service remembering Opal's life beginning at 10:30AM on Wednesday, July 8, 2020, in the Banner Cemetery. Bro. Fletcher Moorman will officiate the service.
