Ms. Pearlie Gipson, 73, transitioned on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at Oxford Health & Rehab in Oxford, MS. Pearlie “Mickey” Gipson was born December 18, 1946 to the late Pauline Berry  Smith Williams and Will Smith, Sr., in Lafayette County, Mississippi.

She accepted Christ at an early age at Bethlehem C.M. E. Church in Etta, MS where she remained.

Pearlie was employed with ICS Head Start for 29 years as a Nutritionist.  During her employment, she received numerous awards and recognition for her work.  She enjoyed cooking, decorating and giving to others.

She leaves to cherish her memories her children’s father: Henry C. Gipson, on son: Dereal Teresa) Gipson of Water Valley, MS, one daughter: Bonnie (Keith) Holland of Etta MS, six sisters: Betty Brown, Jerlean (Warren) Bruce, Dorothy Key, Faye (Wilfred) Bell, and Patricia (Wayne) Bynum, all of Oxford, MS and Ernestine Ward of Milwaukee, WI, five brothers: Hullie (Maudie) Williams, Robert Smith, Will Smith Jr. all of Oxford, MS, Ronald L. Williams of Abbeville, MS, and Clarence (Vanessa) Williams of Etta, MS, six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, a special brother-in-law; Rev. Alfred Harris, and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Will Smith, Sr. and Pauline Berry Smith Gipson, her sisters: Wilma Harris and Minnie Swinney, one brother: Henry Earl Smith, and a grandson: La’Christopher Gipson.

Graveside Service will take place on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at 11a.m. at Bethlehem C.M.E. Church Cemetery in Etta, MS. Serenity Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 from 4-6p.m., with family hour from 6-7p.m. at Serenity Funeral Home Chapel in Oxford.
