Bobby Gene Rye passed away Thursday, July 9, 2020, at the Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth, MS. He was born January 25, 1935, to John and Ora Lee Rye. He lived many years in Baltimore, MD. Every time one would see Mr. Rye, he was always making people laugh and putting smiles on their faces by pranking everyone. He loved collecting at the Salvation Army; he would give whatever he could find to anybody. Mr. Rye attended New Covenant Worship Center in Booneville, MS. During the summer months, he enjoyed cooking at a youth camp in the state of Maine and traveling to Florida. Mr. Rye will be remembered by his support of President Trump and the many tales of his adventurous younger years.

There will be no local services for Mr. Bobby Gene Rye. There will be a private ceremony for the family in Florida. Arrangements are under the direction of McMillan Funeral Home.

He is survived by his step-son, Dean Rockel; two step-daughters, Doreen Rockel and Donna Rockel; eight step-grandchildren, Justin Rockel, Eric Pindell, Chris Rockel, Nicholas Rockel, Michele Fugate, Keri Martin, Dominic Martin, and Cameron Martin; a host of nieces and nephews; and a host of great nieces and great nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife of many years, Josie Rye; one brother, Glen “Poodle” Cunningham (Doris); and one sister, Betty Elosie Rye Zackarevicz (James).

  1. Hello I want to say that I am deeply sorry for your loss and would like to share a scripture with the family. It is found at Acts 24:15 which says, “15 And I have hope toward God, which hope these men also look forward to, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.” Here we see that God, whose name is Jehovah is going to bring our dead loved ones back to life. This is a time many people look forward to. I hope this message is a source of encouragement for the family.
