Mother Callie Mae Martin, 98, transitioned on Monday, July 27, 2020 at Sardis Nursing Home in Sardis, MS.

She was the daughter of the late Professor Owens and Annie Patton Owens, was born on June 22, 1922 in Taylor, Mississippi. God saw that she was tired and called his daughter  home. She made a sweet transitionfrom this life to her Heavenly Home on Monday, July 27, 2020.

Mother Callie accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Hope Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully in the ministry of Ushering for many years. Later in life she united with her son, the Pastor of THE WAY, THE TRUTH AND LIFE Apostolic Faith Ministry and served on the Mother Board and as a Mother of the church, until her death. She loved her church, her children, and singing her favorite songs; I Got Shoes You Got Shoes All God's Children Got Shoes and This Little Light of Mine.

Mother Callie united in holy matrimony on December 14, 1947 to the late Willie Lee Martin, Sr., and they were blessed with 10 children. She loved going fishing with friends and her son, which was her favorite part time activity.

Callie was employed at the Holiday INN for many years as a Housekeeper before her retirement, she worked as a C.N.A at Graceland Nursing Home.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories eight children, three girls: Willie Mae (George) Jones, Sealeaner (Robert) Harmon both of Oxford, MS and Rose Martin (Waymond) Stinson of Racine, WI.

Five sons: Thomas (Renee) Martin of Taylor, MS, William Martin of Clarksdale, MS, Barney (Carrie) Martin of Oxford, MS, Commondore J. Martin and Willie L. Martin, Jr., both of Taylor, MS. Three brothers: Paul (Ann) Owens, Marshall Owens and Lara (Marva) Owens all of Milwaukee, WI. 23 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Professor and Annie Owens, her husband: Willie I. Martin, Sr., her daughters: Abbie Jennings Orange and Effie R. Martin, three sisters: Minnie Lynch, Bessie Lynch, Ruth Causey, five brothers: Alfred Owens, Andrew Owens, Titus Owens, Isiah Owens and Israel Owens.

Graveside Service will take place on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at 11a.m. at Yocona Cemetery in Taylor, MS. Serenity Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 from 4-6p.m. at Serenity Funeral Home Chapel in Oxford.

  1. Hello I want to say that I am deeply sorry for your loss and would like to share a scripture with the family. It is found at Acts 24:15 which says, “15 And I have hope toward God, which hope these men also look forward to, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.” Here we see that God, whose name is Jehovah is going to bring our dead loved ones back to life. This is a time many people look forward to. I hope this message is a source of encouragement for the family.
