Mrs. Bettye Jackson Phillips, 93, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on the morning of Friday, August 28, 2020, at Oxford Health and Rehab. Her family will gather for a private graveside service in Orwood Cemetery with Rev. Eddie Willis officiating. Waller Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
Mrs. Phillips was born in Lafayette County, MS to the late Arthur Daniel and Corinne Mathis Jackson. She had a loving and happy marriage with Mr. S.A. Phillips and enjoyed her role as a homemaker caring for her family. Mrs. Phillips was an active member of Sand Springs Presbyterian Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher. She also enjoyed gathering with the ladies of the Yocona Homemaker’s Club. In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by a daughter, Sara Phillips and two sons-in-law, Kenny Mills and James Bruce Allen.
Survivors include her daughter, Patti Mills Allen of Oxford; two granddaughters, Karla Watson and her husband, Jake of Oxford and Erika Hewlett and her husband, Bubba of Oxford. She found great joy in watching her granddaughters become mothers and raise families of their own. She was the proud great-grandmother of Ayla Watson, Kasen Watson, Ayden Watson and Chandler Corinne Hewlett and Sara Ann Mills “Sam” Hewlett.
In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Phillips’ family asks that memorial contribution be made to Orwood Cemetery Fund, c/o Tommy Webb, 258 CR 354, Oxford, MS 38655.
