STARKVILLE — Ann Scrivener McWilliams, 97, was born September 6, 1923 in Winchester, Kentucky and passed away September 23, 2020. A family burial will be in Oddfellows Cemetery Sunday at 2 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church. Welch Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. McWilliams grew up in Louisville, Kentucky, and moved to Meridian, Mississippi, where she met her future husband Leon McWilliams on a blind date. They married in 1947 and had four children all born in Meridian. The family moved to Starkville, Mississippi in 1961 and all four children graduated from Starkville High School and Mississippi State University. Ann enjoyed playing bridge, supporting MSU, and being a third generation member of the DAR. Ann, a very active member of First Baptist Church, loved her Sunday School class, volunteered in many areas, and served as president of the WMU. She was preceded in death by her husband Leon Clayton McWilliams, Jr., parents, Harry McCord Scrivener and Mary Eliza Martin Scrivener; sister, Sue Scrivener Johnson and brother, Harry McCord Scrivener, Jr. Survivors include; sons, Leon Clayton “Clay” McWilliams III, John Gordon McWilliams and Harry Thomas McWilliams; daughter, Cathy Ann McWilliams Kerr; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Virginia McWilliams Bolender and multiple nephews and nieces.
