Frances Katherine White McClellan, of West Point, Mississippi, passed away on December 16, 2020, at Dugan Memorial Home in West Point. She was born in Woodland, Mississippi, on September 28, 1925. Later, her family moved to Cairo, Mississippi. She graduated from Clay County Vocational High School in Montpelier, Mississippi, and completed beautician training at Vaughn’s Beauty School in Jackson, Mississippi. Throughout her life, she participated in training courses to upgrade her skills and audited courses at Mississippi State University in subjects she found interesting.
Mrs. McClellan moved to West Point, Mississippi, where she began her work career, and soon owned and operated her own beauty shop. During her leisure time, she enjoyed gardening, interior decorating, arranging flowers, and collecting antique furniture. She also sang in the choir and taught Sunday School at First Baptist Church. After retiring from business, she enjoyed being the House Mother for Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity at Mississippi State University for five years.
Mrs. McClellan is preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. McClellan; her parents, Robert Lee White and Leacy Loraine Pate White; her brothers, Robert Wayne White, Thomas Evans White, Gene Eldridge White and James Dennis White; her sister, Peggy Ann White; and her nephew, David E. White.
Mrs. McClellan is survived by two nieces, Deborah White (Gregory) Duncan of Brandon, and Leigh Ann White Bishop of Amory, and two nephews, Steven Wayne (Kay) White of West Point, and Michael Lee White of Lexington, Kentucky. She is also survived by three great-nephews, one great-niece, and one great-great-niece.
A graveside service will be 10 AM Saturday December 19, 2020 at Greenwood Cemetery with Rev. Dale Funderburg officiating. Robinson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
