Barbara Ann Strong Pounders, 63, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at
Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo. She was born December 1, 1957, in Copiah County,
Mississippi to the late Laten Earl Strong and Betty Ann Clower. Barbara earned a
Bachelors Degree in Education from Mississippi State University and taught at
Crystal Springs Elementary School. In her free time, she enjoyed trail riding
horses with her husband, Malchom. She also enjoyed anything outdoors from
being on the farm to hunting and fishing. Barbara enjoyed learning and was
always eager to learn something new.
She is survived by her daughter, Megan Pierson (Shane), Columbus; sons, Todd
Waller and Barrett Hall (Katey), Crystal Springs, MS; sisters, Alana Smith, Mobile,
Carol Mundine (Billy), Houston, TX, DeeDee Taylor, Crystal Springs, and Angela
Waits, Mobile; a host of nieces and nephews. Barbara’s family would like to give
a special thanks to Lisa and Jeff Jones for their care and devotion to Barbara.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Malchom
Pounders and her grandmother, Erma Clower.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 pm, on Thursday, January 21, 2021, at Tisdale
Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen with burial to follow at McDuffie
Cemetery.
Visitation will be prior to the service on Thursday from noon until 1:45 PM.
