Carl August Vesper, Jr., age 94, of Fulton, MS, formerly of Boalsburg, PA, passed away on January 17, 2021 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born on December 7, 1926 in Greenville, PA, son of Carl A. Vesper, Sr. and Christine (Mattmiller) Vesper. He had three brothers who are now deceased – Arthur Vesper, Albert Vesper, and Robert Vesper. He married Martha Anne Ziegler in 1948 and had a wonderful marriage until her death in 2007. In 2012, he married Patricia Petre Marchuk, after moving to Jackson, TN to live with his daughter Carol Green and her family.
Carl served in the U.S. Army during WWII and then graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a degree in forestry. He worked as a forester for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania until his early retirement. Then he expanded his landscaping business, Twin View Nursery, to add beekeeping and honey, wreath making, Easter lilies, and Christmas poinsettias.
Carl was a long-time member at Zion Lutheran Church in Boalsburg, PA, where he taught Sunday School and served on the church council. He also was very involved in Lions Club International, belonging to a club in every town where he lived.
Carl is survived by his wife Patricia, his five children – Carl A Vesper, III (Cindy) of Reading, PA; Shirley Smith (Joseph Brenkosh) of Albuquerque, NM; Carol Green (Robert) of Decatur, IL; Andrew Vesper (Janet) of Townsend, MA; and Dorothy Vesper (Michael Perone) of Morgantown, WV – seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Arrangements handled by McNeece-Morris Funeral Home, Fulton, MS. A private memorial will be held later in the year in Boalsburg, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Heifer Project (particularly honeybees) or the charity of your choice.
