Ms. Lee Young Starnes, 67, died Saturday, January 23, 2021, at Baptist Memorial Hospital North MS in Oxford. A graveside service will be held Thursday, January 28, 2021, at 11:30 A.M. at Oxford Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Randy Bain officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 at Waller Funeral Home.

Lee was born in Oxford, MS to Elizabeth “Lib” Caldwell Young and the late Lester Whitten Young. She was an active and devoted mother and enjoyed the years she spent raising her children.  As an empty nester, she found her way back to caring for young children through her job in childcare at The Y. She and her mother’s relationship was more like a friendship and they enjoyed spending time together, especially shopping. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Lynn Paterson.

Survivors include her daughter, Whitney Starnes White of Hernando, MS; a son, Chase Starnes and his wife, Tina of Raymond, MS; her mother, Lib Young of Oxford; a brother, Les Young and his wife, Sonia of Senatobia, MS; two grandchildren, Parker Leigh and Olivia Grace and many nieces and nephews, Tice Young, Dr. Jenny Young Shutt, Marc Lester Young, Ashley Boutwell and Lou Anna Boutwell.

Memorial contributions in Lee’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
