James Izike "Sam" Lewis, 83, was born in Union County on June 4, 1937, the son of Hubert Morris and Ora Bell Lepard Lewis.  Mr. Lewis departed this life on Friday, January 29, 2021, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.  Mr. Sam was of the Pentecostal faith and had been a factory employee.  His hobbies were fishing, flea marketing, and camping.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry Wayne Lewis (Jo) of Enterprise and James Lewis (Janice) of Myrtle; two daughters, Joyce Bishop of Hickory Flat and Tammy Dillard of Hickory Flat; two brothers, Willie Lewis of New Albany and Tommy Lewis of Myrtle; one aunt, Lillie Bell Smith of Blue Mountain; eleven grandchildren; and twenty-four great grandchildren.  His wife Ruth Lewis preceded him in death in 2014.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 1, 2021, at 11:00 A. M. at Glenfield Funeral Home with Brother Mike Hale officiating. Burial will follow at Philadelphia Baptist Cemetery in Lafayette County.  Visitation will be held from 9:00 A. M. until service time on Monday.  Pallbearers are Shon Hackney, Christopher Bishop, Allen Lewis, Mathew Lewis, Brandon Lewis, and Matt Lewis.
