Cason Community – Howard Dewayne Roberson, 59, met his Savior face to face on Friday, February 12, 2021, after a long four year battle with cancer. Dewayne was just two days shy of celebrating his 60th Birthday. He was born on February 14, 1961, in Mississippi.

Dewayne loved his community and was a member of Cason Baptist Church. He was a great example of a caring Christian man who lived life simple. He was an avid walker, who every morning loved to get out and socialize with his neighbors as well as check on their well-being. He was talkative, loving and funny and his presence will be missed by those who lived near him. He often collected cans while walking, helping recycle while he kept the roads clean for his community. Above all, Dewayne enjoyed being around his family, especially his nieces and nephews.

A traveler, Dewayne, made many trips throughout the United States to include Disney World, the beach, the Smokey Mountains, Chicago to watch the Cubs play. He also rode the subway, a railcar, and took a long boat ride on Lake Michigan. He really enjoyed taking vacations and seeing the United States. In his free time, besides walking, Dewayne liked to go fishing and helped take care of Billy Ray Hood’s horses.

His family, friends and neighbors will always remember him for his kindness and easy going attitude for life. Dewayne will be missed dearly.

Dewayne has lived with Phillip for the past twenty five years and loved spending time with Linda.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 13, 2021 at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory, MS with Deacon James Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenbrier Cemetery in Becker, MS. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 PM at the funeral home in Amory, MS.
