Evelyn Denise Payton Peairs was born on February 6, 1967 to the late Henry Graham and Betty Payton Carruthers in New Albany, Mississippi.

Denise accepted Christ at an early age, and became a member of Union Prospect MB Church. She was a graduate of the 1985 Class of Blue Mountain High School. She loved to sing, cook, and be a caring mother to her son Josh. Denise was affectionally known as “Nita Bug.”

She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry Graham and Betty Payton Carruthers, Stepmother Gladys Graham, and two brothers, Charles and Larry Payton.

Denise leaves to cherish her memories: One son, Joshua Peairs; Joshua’s father, Earnest Peairs; Three sisters: Virginia Ann (J.W.) Rutherford, Mary Harris, and Vera Bibbs; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 27, 2021, from 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM at Payton Mortuary. Face coverings are required. Service will be Sunday, February 28, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Union Prospect MB Church Cemetery in New Albany, MS.
