BRAXTON – James Hollis “Jimmy” Cowart, 66, transformed from this life to the life everlasting on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2021 from St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson. Jimmy had struggled with congestive heart failure for some time.  Born in Jackson on November 30, 1954 to the late James Cowart and Betty Traylor Cowart, Jimmy attended the public schools of Jackson and graduated from Rankin Academy in Star in l974.  He joined the Sheet Metal Union #406 where he trained as a sheet metal worker.  He first partnered with Dennis White and they owned and operated D’Lo Mechanical/Metal Air Mechanical Company for many years.  He finished his career before retirement working for J. L. Roberts Company.  Jimmy married Tammy D. Arnold on March 5, 2000 and they made their home the next 21 years farming and being great stewards of Legacy Four Farm in Braxton.  Jimmy loved all God’s creation and enjoyed spending time on the farm driving tractors, bailing hay and performing all the “piddling” chores required of a farmer-landowner. An avid deer hunter earlier in life, he was a motorcycle enthusiast and he and Tammy made many excursions about the Mid-south and the USA on their twin cycles.  He was devoted to his children and followed them in their rodeo pursuits about the country, especially the Mississippi High School Rodeo Association and USTRC (United States Team Roping Championships).  Jimmy was a devoted husband, father and friend and, if he liked you, he loved you unconditionally.  He had a heart the size of Texas and lived a life of selfless service to his God, his family and many friends.

A service celebrating his life will be held at 10 AM Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2021 at the Calvary Baptist Church (5110 U.S. 49) in Braxton with burial to follow in Holly Grove Cemetery near Braxton.  Bro.
