Billy Hugh Howell, 82, of the Gaston Community, passed away on Friday, February 19, 2021 at his residence. He was born March 22, 1938 to Bolivar “Doc” and Olivia Howell. He was a 1959 graduate of Mississippi State University. He worked at Wurlitzer Piano, Baldwin Piano, Gibson Guitar and Batesville Casket Company. He was a lifelong farmer. He attended Gaston Baptist church, he loved MSU sports, St. Louis Cardinals, bowling, Dallas Cowboys, and spending time with family, Callie and Tiger.

He is survived by his wife, Mary McGaughy Howell; 2 daughters, Sherri Howell of Bowling Green, KY and Terri Burress of Guntown; 4 sons, Stan (Sherry) Howell of Saltillo, Steve (Haven) Howell of Mooreville, Jason (Tami) Hobson of Columbus, GA and Brian Hobson of Olive Branch, MS; 16 grandchildren, Ryan (Brandy) Howell, Shea Johnson, Andrew Johnson, Chase (Michael) Cole, Brad (Lauren) Anthony, Chad(Katherine) Anthony, Blake (Genee-Grace) Burress, Skyylar Little, Neal (Ashley) Vick, Darryl (Heather) Howell, Tim Howell, Tom Howell, Rylee Nebesho, Cassidy (Mitchell) Smith, Meghan (Billy) Mixon, and Clay(Courtney) Hobson. 17 great grandchildren, Noah, Baylor Bell, Bennett, Brody, Daylen, Rory, Josh, Zoey, Astella, Wesley Carter, Hunter Leigh, Levi, Brooklyn, Emily, Abby, Crawford and Walter. One brother, Walter (Debbie) Howell of Rienzi and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two grandchildren William Paul Roberts and Mary Sue Roberts.
A private funeral service will be held for the family with Bro. Matt Brown officiating and burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery in Benton County. In lieu of flowers the family request donations to be made to your favorite charity.
