Charlene B. McGarrh, 94, passed away on Monday, May 3, 2021 at her home.  Born on November 11, 1926 in French Camp, she was a daughter to John Thomas and Matilda Sudduth Boyette.  She attended French Camp Academy and later moved to Aberdeen in 1964.  She married Burnice Luther “Mack” McGarrh and prior to her retirement, she worked as a seamstress for Sharp Garment Co.  In addition, she was a homemaker and was wholly devoted to raising her 7 children.  She was the oldest member of Prairie Baptist Church and she was a true church warrior.

 

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at Prairie Baptist Church with Bro. George Collins officiating.  Burial will follow in the Serapta Cemetery in Stewart, Mississippi.  Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home of Aberdeen is in charge of the arrangements.

 

Survivors include one son, Darrell Wayne McGarrh (Shelby) of Amory; 5 daughters, Sandra Cameron of Madison, Annette Jackson (Felix) of Prairie, Charlotte Lackie of Hamilton, Bernice M. Hamilton (Ray) of Aberdeen, and Martha Virginia King (Doug) of Canton; 16 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Bernice Luther McGarrh, Jr.; 2 sons-in-law, one daughter-in-law; one grandson; and one great grandson.

 

Her grandsons and great grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

 

Visitation will be on Wednesday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

 

Memorials may be made to Prairie Baptist Church; American Cancer Society; St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; or LeBonheur Children’s Hospital.

  1. Dear McGarrh family, I’m sorry for your loss and you have my deepest condolences. The loss of a loved one brings great pain and sorrow but you can gain comfort from Gods word the Bible. Acts 24:15 says “There is going to be a resurrection” so you can see your dear loved one again. A promise from our loving Heavenly Father. I hope this was a source of encouragement for the family.
