PONTOTOC COUNTY – Eddie “Dewayne” Gilmore, 69, died Thursday, May 20, 2021 at North Miss. Medical Center Hospice in Tupelo. Dewayne was born in Pontotoc Co. to the late Eddie Carl Gilmore and Mauvleen Boneva Coggins Fleming. He spent his whole life in Pontotoc. He worked with Eutaw Construction out of Aberdeen, MS for the last 15 years before becoming disabled in late 2000. Dewayne was laid back and enjoyed swinging under his oak tree and watching the world go by. He enjoyed mud riding with his kids during their youth, and playing with his grandchildren. A practical jokester, he enjoyed picking on his sisters and anyone he came in contact with.
A memorial visitation celebrating his life will be held from 12 PM to 2 PM on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors. There will be no public service. Holland Funeral Directors is honored to be serving their friends. Burial will be private.
Dewayne is survived by his daughter, Ashley D. Smith and her husband, James, Sr. of Longview Community; his sons, Kevin D. Gilmore and Michael W. Gilmore, all of Pontotoc; his grandchildren, Christy, Jay-Man, Jacob, Benjamin, Ki’lyn, Brantley, Waelon, Autumn, and Rylee. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Carlos Ann Segrest and Brenda Joyce Raines .
