Mrs. Virginia Salmon Barber, 86, died on May 22, 2021 at Baptist Memorial Hospital North-Mississippi in Oxford, MS. The funeral service will be held in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Scott Thomas and Rev. Fish Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Oxford Memorial Cemetery. The visitation will be held prior to the service from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Waller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Barber, affectionally known by her beloved grandchildren as Nana that she loved the best, was born in Oxford, MS on March 30, 1935, to the late Nannie Mae Dooley and Robert Salmon and was a homemaker. Mrs. Barber was a devoted woman of God and was a devout member of North Oxford Baptist Church since 1955 and found pleasure doing work for the church, gardening, and tending to her beautiful flowers. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barber is preceded in death by her grandson, Michael Barber.
Mrs. Barber is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Jerry Barber of Oxford, MS; sons, Gerald Barber and his wife, Janet of Jonesboro, AR and Randy Barber and his wife Lisa of Oxford, MS; grandchildren, Randi Lynn Jumper and Daniel Barber; and a great grandson, Aaron Barber.
