Mrs. Patsy Ruth Vaughn Mixon, 83, died on May 22, 2021, in her home in Oxford, MS. The funeral service will be held in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home on Thursday, May 27, 2021, at 2:00 P.M. with Mr. Michael Duckworth officiating. Burial will follow in Orwood Cemetery. The visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. Waller Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.

Mrs. Mixon was born in Yalobusha County to the late Elmer C. and Zulene Allen Vaughn. A member of Union West Baptist Church, Mrs. Mixon was an example of how to live the Christian life before her family and friends by her words and deeds. She was a loving mother and grandmother who found her greatest joy in caring for each of them. Mrs. Mixon was known for her custom cakes and helped many couples celebrate their weddings with her delicious wedding cakes. She was also an accomplished seamstress who enjoyed sewing for her family. She enjoyed her vegetable garden and preserving the bounty through canning. While she was an accomplished cook, providing delicious meals for her family and friends, she was especially known for her candied yams. Mrs. Mixon also enjoyed spending time tending her flower gardens.

Mrs. Mixon is survived by her husband of 67 years, Bennett Mixon of Oxford, MS; a daughter Pamela Duckworth and her husband, Michael of Hernando, MS; a son Paul Mixon of Oxford, MS; a sister, Joan Carlisle of Water Valley, MS; and a granddaughter, Laura Duckworth of Nesbit, MS. She is predeceased by a son, Gary Mixon; 3 sisters, Mildred Carter, Jean Mixon, and Jane Mixon; and 2 brothers, Lawrence Vaughn and George Vaughn.
