A celebration of life for Lois Elaine Tiffin will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021, at Calvert Funeral Home, 27600 East Main St., West Point, MS, Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and a service will follow at 11:00 with Reverend Jeff Shannon officiating.
Elaine was born on October 7, 1948 in West Point, MS, and, after a long illness, passed from this life into God's loving care on July 3, 2021, in Columbus, MS. at the age of 72.
She was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church. She attended Mississippi University for Women and obtained her education degree. Elaine remained in West Point teaching 5th grade at Central, Fifth Street, and Southside Elementary schools. She retired from the West Point School District. Elaine loved to travel and before she began her teaching career she was a "stewardess" with Southern Airways. Recently she became addicted to watching reruns of the "Gunsmoke" TV show. So much so that one of her care givers, Che Che, joined her faithfully.
She was a loving sister, aunt, great-aunt and friend and will be greatly missed. Her greatest treasures were her family and friends. She thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie with family and friends as well as spending time with the younger generation. One of her favorite monthly activities was a luncheon with a group of West Point High School ladies alumni and she tried to never miss it. Elaine was particularly active with her grandnieces, Savannah and Sarah, and her nephew, William.
She was preceded in death by parents, Irene Gertrude Orman Tiffin and William Edward Tiffin, Sr.
Left to cherish her memory are her sisters, Carolyn Weishoff (Robert) of Marlton, New Jersey, Patricia Arnold (Russell) of Dennis, Mississippi, Connie Bryan (Donald) of Greenville, South Carolina and her brother William (Billy) E. Tiffin, Jr. (Karen) of West Point, Mississippi; nephews and nieces, George Weishoff of Hainesport, New Jersey, Andrea Weishoff of Marlton, New Jersey, Samantha Cahng (Jason) of Marietta, Georgia, Dr. Samual T Norris, Jr. (Christine) of St. Simons Island, Georgia, Athena Hewlett (Richard) of Starkville, Mississippi, William Miçhael Tiffin (Dana) of Madison, Mississippi, Katherine Tiffin (Mitch) of Caledonia, Mississippi, William E. Tiffin III of West Point, Mississippi, and Thomas Tiffin of Starkville, Mississippi. Great nieces and nephews, Samual T Norris, III and Elizabeth Norris of St Simons Island, Georgia, Jackson Easton of Starkville, Mississippi, Savannah Tiffin and Sarah Tiffin of New Hope, Mississippi and Tristan James Bulley of Caledonia, Mississippi.
Special thanks from all the family go to her brother, Billy and especially his wife, Karen, a retired nurse, who were at her side, shopping, chauffeuring, arranging and giving care over the last few years graciously and devotedly. We also appreciate the kindness and patience of her caregivers, Casandra Orr, LaTonia Orr, Alkeita Cannon and Jessyce Johnson.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Diabetes Foundation of Mississippi (msdiabetes.org) or the Mississippi Kidney Foundation (kidneysurgery.org).

  1. Dear Tiffin Family, I am deeply sorry for your loss, and would like to share a scripture with you. This scripture is found at Revelation 21;3.4. Here the Bible speaks of a promise God has made to rid the earth of anything that causes us to suffer. Yes, God will do away with all the terrible things we endure today, including death. Many people look forward to this time, and find comfort in this promise from God. I hope you find comfort in the promise as well during this difficult time.
