Mrs. Zelma Lois Thompson Apple, 75, died Monday, August 9, 2021, at Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo, MS. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 11, 2021, from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. at Waller Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Thursday, August 12, 2021, at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Brother Gerald Shook officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Holly Spring, MS.
Mrs. Apple was born on September 11, 1945, in Stewart, MS to the late John Wade and Zelma Briscoe Thompson. She was a faithful member of Anchor Baptist Church and found great joy in the years she spent at home raising her children. She was very fond of clowns and amassed a large collection of clowns over the years. Mrs. Apple loved living in Oxford and following Ole Miss Sports. She was a devoted mother to her boys and proud grandmother and great-grandmother to her beloved six grandchildren and one great grandchild.
In addition to her grandchildren, Mrs. Apple is survived by her husband, Wayne Lee Apple of Oxford; two sons, John Wootten and his wife, April of Oxford and Chad Wootten and his wife, Heather of Oxford and three sisters, Marie Smith of Holly Springs, MS, Bobbie Thrasher of Oxford and Charlotte Todd of Horn Lake, MS.
