Ms. Alice Jean Hughes, 72, transitioned on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in New Albany. 
I was born on December 8, 1948 to the late William H. and Mary Alice Wright.
I confessed my hope in Christ at an early age and joined Powell Chapel Church.
I was united in holy matrimony to the late Woodrow Hughes and to this union three children were born.
I was preceded in death by my mother; Mary Alice Wright, father; William Wright, four brothers; Fred Johnson, John Tucker, William O. Wright and Jerry Wright and  sister; Patricia Wright.
I departed this life on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at Baptist Memorial Hospital  Union County, Mississippi surrounded by my loving family.
I leave to cherish my memories two daughters: Lawanda Falkner and Theresa Hughes and one son; Taiwan Hughes all of Hickory Flat, MS, eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, one special god-son; Cortez Cowan, three brothers; Troy Lee Wright of Holly Springs, MS, Jackie Paul Wright of Rochester, NY and William Wright, Jr. of Holly Springs, MS, one sister; Janie McNeil of Holly Springs, MS, and one sister-in-law; Frances Johnson, one special cousin; Pamela Haggins other relatives and friends.

Services will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 11a.m., at the funeral home chapel. Burial will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery in Holly Springs. Serenity-Autry Funeral Home of Holly Springs is in charge of the arrangements. 

Visitation will be on Friday, August 20, 2021 from 4-6p.m., at the funeral home.

  1. Dear Hughes Family, I am sorry for your loss and you have my deepest sympathy. The loss of a loved one brings great pain and sorrow but you can have comfort from Gods word the Bible.
    Acts 24:15 says “There is going to be a resurrection” so you can see your dear loved one again. And this is a promise from our loving Heavenly Father. I hope this was a source of encouragement to the family.
