Mrs. Fonda Faye Messer, 73, passed away Thursday, September 2, 2021, at Baptist Memorial Hospital North MS in Oxford. The funeral service will be Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with her fellow members from the Daughters of the Nile officiating. Visitation will be prior to service beginning at 12:30 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Oxford Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Messer was born on November 12, 1947 in Poplar Bluff, MO. to the late James and Lillian Sinks Raper. She was widow of Mr. Aubrey Christman and Mr. E.D. Messer. Her greatest joy in life was serving others through philanthropic efforts that benefited the society’s most vulnerable, the children. She was dedicated to the work done as a member of the El Kanah Temple No. 142 Daughters of the Nile Jackson, Ms. Over the years she was honored with many titles and recognitions and climbed the positions of the organization where she began as a princess and attained the title of queen. The friendships she formed through the organization was an important part of her happiness and she enjoyed their time fellowshipping, volunteering and simply getting together for meals and events. Her family recalls her strengths in leadership and that she led with her heart: forgiving others, accepting everyone and loving everyone she knew without hesitation. She was beyond proud of her children and so thankful for the years she spent loving her grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her son, Scott Wayne Christman Oxford, MS and her nephew, Todd Pauley MO.

Survivors include her ex-husband, Tyrus Luther and his wife Stauvs of Hickory Flat, MS; her daughter, Rhonda Berryhill and her husband, Kenneth of Hickory Flat, MS; her daughter-in-law, Christy Hyer of Abbeville, MS; her companion, A.D. Montgomery of Jackson, MS; four grandchildren: Alaneia Hyer of Oxford, MS; Bill Johnson of Oxford, MS; Cassandra Wholetz of Colorado and Jodi Staubs of New Albany, MS; six great-grandchildren: Kota Williams, Sylas Hyer, Murphy Johnson, Mariah Jarvis, Lilly Torres and Izabella Torres; her sister, Margie Witt of Warrenton, MO; her brother, Jerry Kazzee of Oxford, MS; four nieces: Teresa Monjay and her children Tara and Evan, Jayme Myrick, Trinity Russom, Kristen Johnson.
