Ronald Curtis McLarty

Mr. Ronald Curtis “Ron” McLarty, 74, died Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at his home in Abbeville, MS.  A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at 5:00 P.M. at Mt. Zion Church Cemetery in Oxford, MS.

Born on March 2, 1947, in Memphis, TN to the late Glen and Muzetta McLarty, Mr. McLarty was known as a world traveler and adventurer.  Mr. McLarty had a long career in sports. He taught and coached at Germantown High School, he was a member of the chain crew for Shelby County School, and was a football referee for the University of Mississippi.  After his retirement, Mr. McLarty took pleasure in tending to his farm.  An avid hunter and cattleman, he was most at home when spending time outdoors.

Mr. McLarty is survived by his wife, Paula Abernathy McLarty of Abbeville, MS; a sister, Glenda McLarty Rhea of Olive Branch, MS; two nephews, Chris Holland and David Rhea; and two nieces Caitlyn Rhea and Drea Rhea.
