Shawn Kelley, 50, of Starkville, MS died on Sunday, August 29, 2021 at Rush Specialty Hospital in Meridian, MS after complications from the treatment of COVID-19.

He was born on August 2, 1971 in Bastrop, LA. He is the son of Carol Kelley of Reagan, TN and Larry & Dianne Kelley of Mathiston, MS. He was the husband of Melanie Boyd Kelley of Starkville, MS and the father of Gracie (21) and Mallory (19). He was the brother of Sheila Kelley of Fairview, TN, Justin Kelley of Mathiston, MS and of Jason Blakely of Mathiston, MS. He was preceded in death by his brother Wayne Kelley and many beloved aunts and uncles.

Shawn was a strong man whose ultimate goal in life was to protect those closest to him. He was always willing to serve others in any capacity. He loved his wife and daughters, and they were always at the forefront of every decision he made. He was a decorated combat veteran of the MS National Guard serving two tours in Iraq. He was the recipient of numerous achievement awards including Director of the Year for the NCO Association over multiple years. Shawn’s hobbies included riding his vintage Harley Davidson motorcycle with the Broken Chains Ministry. He was a deacon at Meadowview Baptist Church, and was instrumental in leading the ministry of Celebrate Recovery. Shawn had a great impact on many lives through his witness for Christ. His legacy will continue to have an influence for many years to come. As a child and young teen, he was an accomplished Elvis Impersonator and won many awards for his performances. Shawn was a skilled individual capable of almost anything. Throughout his career he held many management positions including at PACCAR Engine Company and, most recently, as the technical training manager at East Mississippi Community College. Through these roles he was able to connect with many people and have a positive effect on their lives.

The Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 3, 2021 at Meadowview Baptist Church. The visitation will be at 10:30am followed by the service at 11:00am. Bro. Dan Robertson and Bro. Jason Middleton will be conducting the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Celebrate Recovery at Meadowview Baptist Church, 300 Linden Circle, Starkville, MS.
