Hatley – Susan Darlene Howell, 56, started her new life in Heaven, with her momma by her side, on Thursday, November 4, 2021. A Valentine’s baby, she was born on February 14, 1965, in Lagrange, Illinois, to Wayne Howell and the late Margaret M. Bossow Howell.
Susan grew up in Illinois and attended Stagg High School in Palos Hill, Illinois. She was determined and obtained her GED later in life and she also attended college for a brief while. She moved, with her family, to Mississippi and began a career at Amory Animal Hospital. For over 20 years, she worked at the Hospital, mostly at the front desk, where she was a friendly familiar face. She greeted customers and fur babies with a smile. Through the years, she made many lasting friendships with the staff and helped many pets and owners through trying times. She loved animals, was passionate about being the voice for them, and she had two dogs of her own whom she spoiled rotten.
During her lifetime, God blessed her with a daughter, grandchildren and a large extended family. Family meant everything to her and her actions everyday showed it, as she always put them first. She cherished her roots in Illinois and loved her family dearly. She loved the Lord and joined East Amory Baptist Church, where she enjoyed fellowship with other Christians. Susan was a sweet, kind person who would help anyone. Susan loved everyone and in addition to the girls she worked with, some of her closest friends were Sam, Ms. Bobbie, Ms. Hazel, Karen and Mike Little. Susan liked to listen to classic country and 80’s music. She was a friend to all, made people feel welcome when they were around her, and she had a beautiful sweet spirit.
Although her family is saddened with her sudden passing, they are comforted knowing that she is in the presence of her Lord and Savior. She will be missed so much. There were many wonderful memories made through the years with Susan which will be cherished forever.
She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Sanderson (Chris), Fultondale, AL; father, Wayne Howell, Amory; grandchildren, C. J. And Shelby Sanderson; brother, Wayne Howell (Cathy), Golden; nephew, Austin Howell (Lisa); great nieces and nephews, Olivia, Rose, and Noah Howell; a host of nieces and nephews; a host of great nieces and nephews.
