Rueben Orbis Hanson, 91, came to the meridian of his earthly pilgrimage and met the Sovereign Grand Architect of the Universe in the late hours of Saturday, December 18, 2021 from North Miss. Medical Center after a period of declining health. Rueben and his late wife, Vivian were married on Jan. 6, 1952 in Coeur D’Alene, Idaho. They moved to the Tupelo area in 1969 from Titusville, Fla. and became beloved citizens of our area. Rueben worked in various capacities including a stint in the sewing machine business, working at the Tupelo Coliseum and running deliveries for Russell Deliveries. He was a 33 degree Mason and the former Grand Potentate of the Hamasa Shrine Lodge in 2011. A member of Blue Lodge # 318 in Tupelo, Rueben dedicated his life to the benevolent causes espoused by Masons and Shriners. He was active in the transport of patients to the Shrine Crippled Children’s Hospital in Shreveport and other locations. A longtime active member of the St. Luke United Methodist Church, Rueben lived a long and fruitful life in service to God, County and family.
A service celebrating his life will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, December 22, 2021 in the Sadie Holland Memorial Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors. A Masonic graveside service will follow at Tupelo Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10 am-service time only on Wednesday at Holland-Tupelo, which is honored to be serving a brother Mason.
