Margie Ruth Lantrip Earnest, 77, departed this life for her life in eternity on Monday, Jan. 31, 2022 from her home in Amory where she had lived the last 3 years. Margie was born in Pontotoc County to the late Vuron and Willie Essie Sprayberry Lantrip.  She grew up there and married James Adron Earnest on January 12, 1959. They made their home in the Egypt Community south of Okolona.  James died on May 16, 1998.  Margie first worked at the former Okolona College where she was a pre-K teacher.  Later, she worked for Shaw Manufacturing and ultimately became a house wife and homemaker.  She loved spending time with her family, shopping, going to Church, reading and watching TV, dancing, flowers and gardening and riding the back roads of this area checking out the countryside. Margie also loved cooking and especially enjoyed playing dominoes.  At her death, she was a member of the Amory Church of Christ.

A service celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, Feb. 3, 2022 at the Boone’s Chapel United Methodist Church south of Okolona with Bro. Eddie Shelton and Bro. Jason Salisbury officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 11 AM-service time Thursday only at the Church.  Holland Funeral Directors-Okolona is honored to be serving their friends.

Margie is survived by her children; James Kenneth Earnest, Pamela Earnest (Eugene), Teresa Higgins (Mike) and Sandy Minor (Tommy); her grandchildren, Robbie Earnest (Amanda), Emily Earnest, Bruce Minor and Chris Minor (Chelsea).   Her great grandchildren, Hunter Earnest, Molly Earnest, Drake Earnest, Mallorie Minor, Alex Minor and Zoey Minor;  her sisters, Wilma Malone and Marie Youngblood; several nieces, nephews and cousins and a special friend, Lou Martinez Acunta. She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, James A. “Kojak” Earnest, a grandson, Michael Higgins and her siblings, Bill, Edward, Raymond and Monette Lantrip.
