Mrs. Julia Meece Ray, 77, died Sunday, March 6, 2022, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi. There will be a graveside and rosary service on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at 10:00 A.M. at Eastover Memorial Cemetery with Fr. Joe Tonos officiating.

Mrs. Ray was born December 27, 1944, to the late Russell and Eileen Meece. In her younger years, she loved to spend her free time fishing. Mrs. Ray enjoyed watching football, especially her favorite teams, Alabama Crimson Tide and the Oakland Raiders. Over the years, she had many dogs that she loved deeply and thought of like family members. A talented writer, Mrs. Ray would compose poems daily for her husband and son. Over her lifetime, they collected these precious poems in a big binder, looking back on them with so much love. Mrs. Ray would be the first to volunteer to host Thanksgiving dinner. It brought her great joy to see her home filled with family while she lovingly prepared the meal. She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones, especially her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ray was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Daves Ray; brother, Russell Meece; sisters, June Walker and Judy Devine; and her grandson, Michael Ray.

Mrs. Ray is survived by her son, Dave Ray and his wife, Meghan of Oxford, MS and four grandchildren, Siobhan, Thomas, Declan and James Ray.
