Mrs. Freda Anthony Hartness, 78, died Monday, March 21, 2022, at Baptist Calhoun Nursing Home. There are no services planned at this time.
Mrs. Hartness was a member of First United Methodist Church of Clinton, MS. Holding a deep love for literature and reading, she was elected President of the Mississippi Chapter of the Friends of the Library and spent time volunteering with the Quisenberry Library in Clinton, MS. As a volunteer, Mrs. Hartness would plan community events and book fairs for the Clinton community. She was a devout volunteer at the Clinton Community Nature Center. A certified Master Gardner, Mrs. Hartness was meticulous in tending to her beautiful yard that was admired by many. However, her talents were not just limited to gardening. Artistic by nature, she enjoyed arts and crafts, painting and was an avid DIY-er. Mrs. Hartness was also a talented seamstress and cake decorator, making many delicious cakes for her family throughout the years. She is preceded in death by her parents and several brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Hartness is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Claude Hartness of Oxford, MS; daughters, Cindy Dunn and her husband, Arthur of Oxford, MS and Susan Cobb and her husband, Thomas of Auburn, AL; a sister, Nan Parker of New Albany, MS; a brother, Stanley Anthony of Madison, MS; and three grandchildren, Piper Bramlett, Butler Cobb, and Hudson Cobb.
