Elora Sample

Eggville- Elora Sample, better known as “Mammy” passed this life on April 17,2026 at the North Ms Medical Center hospice unit at the age of 86. She was born January 17th, 1940 to Allen and Fleeta Jones Brock of the Eggville community. In 1956 she met and married the love of her life John Henry Sample and began the life of being a marine’s wife. Out of this union came 4 children, Freda Mitchell (Mike) of Eggville, Terry Carpenter (Mark) of Mooreville, John Allen Sample of Mooreville, Melissa Ethridge (Bill) of Mooreville, 5 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great-Grandchild, Elora was a homemaker and babysitter of many of the community children. She loved to play rook, go fishing and do word searches.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years John Henrry Sample, her brothers Lowell Brock, Charlie Brock, J.R. Brock and James Lamar Brock. Her parents Allen and Fleeta Jones Brock.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Michell, Mark Simpson, Walt Namie, Eric Ethridge, Jimmy Myers and Scott Hurt.

Special friends Barry Parker and Rodger Wicker.

Service will be Sunday, April 19th at 3:00 p.m. with Visitation from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Living Water Community Church in Eggville. No graveside service, burial will be in Eggville Cemetery.

Family ask that in Leiu of flowers donations can be made to Living Water Church.
