A Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Dr. William Marvin Ross, 77, will be held Saturday, April 9, 2022 at Memorial Funeral Home with Dr. Leonard Pratt officiating. Visitation will be from 11 am until 1 pm with service starting at 1 pm.

Dr. Ross died Saturday, March 26, 2022, at his home. He was born December 11, 1944, in Oklahoma to the late Johnnie Ernest and Audra Ross. Bill was a 1963 graduate of Murrah High School in Jackson, MS. He served his country in the US Army as a Radiologic Technologist in Okinawa, Japan. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, Bill attended the University of Southern Mississippi where he received his Bachelor’s Degree. He continued his education at the University of Mississippi Medical Center where he earned his Medical Degree in 1979.

Soon after receiving his MD, he moved his family to Waynesboro, MS where he established a Private Practice. In 1987, Bill and his family moved to Corinth, MS and he began working as an ER physician at Magnolia Regional Health Center. He continued this career for 30 plus years before retiring in 2020.

Bill was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, reading, and looking at maps, especially those of the West. Around June 17 every year, you could find him and his wife, Kathy celebrating their anniversary by wandering throughout the back roads of Wyoming and Montana (their happy place)! But, most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy Ross, and his parents.

Bill is survived by his daughter, Melinda Ross Hammons; son, John “Jabbo” Ross; grandchildren, Emma Hammons, Kayson Ross, Hunter Mathis and Jackson Mathis; sister, Ernestine “Ernie” Cupit; sister-in-law, Marabeth Brooks; brother-in-law, Wally Brooks; nieces, Dana Mabry (Jason), Nikki Duncan, Kelly Lester (Matthew); nephew, Corey Brooks (Kari); multiple grand nieces and grand nephews; and his faithful and constant fur companion, Lucky.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks c/o Youth Programs.
