Florence “Flo” W. Rutledge died Sunday, May 1, 2022, at Yalobusha Nursing Home in Water Valley, MS. There are no services planned at this time.
Flo was born on July 30, 1944, in Jersey City, New Jersey to the late Margaret and Albert Christiansen. Flo lived her life as a homemaker and caregiver. Everyone that crossed her path knew her home was always there for them no matter what and they held a place in her heart and soul. Although she was small in stature, Flo had a personality that would fill a room with joy and positivity. She can be described as the most beautiful, selfless, loving, giving, kind, honest, amazing woman there ever was. To know her was to be loved by her. Flo exuded patience and compassion. She had a life-long love of bingo, reading, Christmas and Hallmark movies. She will forever be in the hearts of those that loved her nurturing and giving spirit. This isn’t goodbye, this is simply see you later.
She is survived by her sisters, Edna Alfonso, Florida, and Kathleen Burke, New Jersey; sons, Patrick Rutledge, Mississippi, Gerald Rutledge, New Jersey, and Michael Rutledge, New Jersey; daughters, Kelly Romero, Mississippi and Ann Rutledge, New Jersey as well as grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Flo was blessed to have an undying bond with her granddaughter, Samantha Alemseghed, Connecticut. In addition to her parents, Flo was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Gerald Rutledge and 2nd husband, James Willis; brothers, Richard Christiansen, Edward Christiansen, Robert Christiansen, Frederick Christiansen and Walter Brown; and sisters, Margaret Fredericos, Arlene Ritchie, and Patricia Ensmann.
