Edith Allen

Nettleton – Edith Earl Allen, 90, began her new life in Heaven on Thursday, May 12, 2022. She was born on September 5, 1931, in Golden, Mississippi, to the late Audrey Bethune and Veola Williams Bethune.

Edith grew up in Tishomingo and Monroe County, attending school in Tishomingo County. She went to work at an early age, working in the manufacturing industry as a Seamstress at both Amory Garment and Monroe Trousers. Edith was not afraid of hard work and she always put others first. She married the love of her life, William “Bill” Allen and together they were blessed with two daughters.

She loved her family and was a very content and happy person. Edith often would tell others that things were “perfect, perfect, perfect” knowing that God had blessed her immensely. In her free time, she liked to do puzzles and listen to Old Time Gospel. She was sassy, loving, understanding, and a caring woman who always took great care of her family and friends. Varnail Lewis and her daughter, Virginia Sue Allen were her closest friends. They did everything together and always enjoyed doing life together. Selfless, she also volunteered at Gilmore Hospital for 3 or 4 years, heling take care of other’s needs.

Edith lived a “perfect” long life and her family and friends consider themselves blessed to have been part of her life. She will be missed greatly.

She is survived by her daughter, Virginia Sue Allen, Nettleton; grandchildren, Andy McGarrh (Lawanda Smith), Steve Parker (Cindy), Richard Parker (Wanda), Terry Parker (Brenda Michelle), and Samantha Parker; great-grandchildren, Brandon Parker, Lakin Lewis, Aaron Parker, Dillan Parker, Ryan Reeves; Madison, Sophia, and Xander McGarrh; Austin, Parker, and Gavin Wages; 6 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Allen, Daughter, Margarette “Anita” Allen (Larry Junior); sister, Shirley Cleveland.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at 1:00 pm, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, from 11:00 am until the service hour at the funeral home in Amory.
