Aberdeen – Barbara Jean Kendrick, 84, passed away on May 18, 2022, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Amory. She was born on April 5, 1938 in Amory, MS, to the late James and Erma Howell Kendrick.

Barbara grew up in Monroe County and graduated from Amory High School. She worked for over seventeen years as a seamstress at Action Industries. An independent woman, Barbara was a hard worker who, at times, had little patience. After retiring from Action, she continued to work retail at WalMart serving the public for years. Barbara was blessed during her lifetime with a son, a granddaughter, and four great-grandchildren. Her family meant the world to her and she always made sure that everyone was taken care of. She enjoyed having family over and cooking for them.

Some of her closest friends were Anita Huntley and Carolyn Nations, they enjoyed talking on the phone to each other. She was a funny woman who in her free time, enjoyed working crossword puzzles, reading, and watching basketball. Barbara liked to listen to Billy Joel and Elvis Presley. Most of all, she liked to spend time with her family.

Barbara was proud of her family and cherished her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her granddaughter, Ashley Birdsell (Jordan), Warner Robins, Georgia; great-grandchildren, Kaylyn, Connolly, Theodor and Perri Jean; nieces, Vickie Garner Coker, Lisa Garner, and Charlotte Griggs; great-nephews, Jeremy, Tristan, and Matthew.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, William Kendrick; a sister, Shirley Garner Outlaw; brother, Jimmy Dale Kendrick; nephews, Jimmy and Johnny Garner; a great-nephew, Caleb Griggs.

A Celebration of Life Service is set for Monday, May 23, 2022, at 2:00 pm at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with Dr. Lloyd Sweatt officiating.. Burial will follow in Hatley Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary Pallbearer will be Terry Garner.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, May 22, 2022, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the funeral home in Amory.
