Albert J. Hurdle

February 8, 1947 ~ May 20, 2022 (age 75)

Mr. Albert J. Hurdle, 75, transitioned on Friday, May 20, 2022, at Methodist University Hospital, Memphis, TN.

Albert Jean Hurdle was born on February 8 , 1947 in Moscow, TN to the late Eddie L. Hurdle and Lelia M. Hurdle. Albert confessed his life to Christ and was baptized at an early age where he joined and attended Concord M. B. Church with his family. He attended Reeves 12 School and H.W. Byers High School.

Albert had a passion for his family and friends, he welcomed every person he encountered and never met a stranger. He met and married Linda Gilchrist and to that union one child (daughter) was born. He was retired but previously worked at Haynes Electric, Schering Plough, INC, located in Memphis, TN, The Steel Mill and Wards Bakery in Chicago, IL.  Albert was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister, and a son, Curtis Lareco Taylor who passed in 1995. 

Albert leaves to cherish his memories : Daughter, Lashunda Hurdle-Barker of Buckeye, AZ, a Son, Theotis Evans of Memphis, TN, two brothers, Andrew Hurdle (Venoria) Chicago, IL, Donald Hurdle, Memphis, TN and 2 sisters, Mary Garrison (Robert) Betty J. Hurdle both of Memphis, TN as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, May 27, 2022, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Serenity-Autry Funeral Home Chapel, Holly Springs, MS.

Graveside Services will be Saturday, May 28, 2022, 12:00 P.M., at Concord M. B. Church,  825 Concord Rd., Lamar, MS.

  1. Dear Hurdle family, one of the saddest things someone can experience is the death of a loved one. Did you know the Bible compares death to sleep? (Psalms 13:3) Just as a person who is asleep is unaware of what is happening around him, the dead are not conscious of anything. There is a promise of hope in the Bible. Our loving God has promised to awaken the dead, as if from sleep, and give them life again. Acts 24:15 says, “There is going to be a resurrection.” The bible offers comfort for those who are grieving and I hope this brings you comfort as well.
