Mr. William Layne Horne, 83, died Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi. Mr. Horne’s funeral will be Saturday, June 11, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at Anchor Baptist Church with Rev. Gerald Shook officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 10:00 A.M. A private graveside service will take place at Anchor Cemetery.

Mr. Horne was born in Oxford, MS to the late Alton and Olene Mills Horne February 13, 1939. Before retiring, Mr. Horne enjoyed working as both a farmer and carpenter. Mr. Horne was also a faithful Christian man, loving father and grandfather and faithful member of Anchor Baptist Church. Mr. Horne was also a devoted husband to his beloved wife of 44 years, Lottie Horne, who preceded him in death in January of 2019. Mr. Horne was also preceded in death by his son DeLain Horne in June of 2006.

Mr. Horne is survived by his son, Steve Horne and his wife, Iris of Clarks Summit, PA; son, Billy Bumgardner and his wife, Shirley of Water Valley, MS; son, David Bumgardner of Water Valley, MS; daughter, Connie Bumgardner of Oxford, MS; daughter, Janet Knight and husband, James of Oxford, MS; sister, Peggy Britt of Oxford, MS; as well as 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
