Joni Salinas-Aguilar died at her residence near Saltillo after a period of declining health. Joni was born Joni Lynette Merchant was born in Tupelo on Sept. 30, 1978 to the late Jimmy and Barbara Gilmore Merchant. She grew up in the Nettleton and Mooreville area and had lived in Saltillo the last few years. A housewife and former convenience store clerk, Joni was the widow of Pedro Aguilar who died in August of 2021. She enjoyed watching TV, listening to music and spending time wither her children and her friends.

A service celebrating her life will be held at 4PM Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at the Sadie Holland Memorial Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors. With Bro. Samuel Caldwell officiating. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery on Barrett Ridge near Saltillo. Visitation will begin at 2PM and continue to service time.

Joni is survived by her children, Roman Salinas and wife, Madison of Bruce; 3 daughters, Cadillac Aguilar, Tequila Aguilar and Blanco Salinas; her brother, Matt Merchant (Kimberly) of Nettleton; several cousins and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband. Pedro Aguilar, her parents, Jimmy and Barbara Merchant and a brother, Jimbo Merchant.
