Mr. Jeffrey Lynn Butler, 81, died peacefully Sunday, July 17, 2022 at his home in Oxford, MS. Visitation with the family will take place Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at 1:30 P.M. in the Fellowship Hall of First Presbyterian Church of Oxford with a Service of Witness to the Resurrection in celebration of his life following at 3:00 P.M. in the church sanctuary with Rev. Barrett Milner officiating.

Jeffrey was born May 26, 1941, in Corinth, MS, the only child of the late Chester Horace Butler and Lilla Frances Steen Butler. After graduating from Corinth High School and attending Northeast Mississippi Junior College and the University of Mississippi, Jeffrey married the love of his life in 1961 and moved his family to Oxford in 1964. He and his wife purchased Oxford Floral Company in 1973 and maintained a reputable and successful business until they sold it in 2009. While in the floral industry, Jeffrey served as President of the Mississippi Florist Association in 1988. He and his wife accepted an invitation to participate in the floral decoration of the presidential inauguration for President George H. W. Bush in 1989. He was one of the founders of the Oxford University Bank and served on its board until February of this year. Jeff loved his family first, and enjoyed playing golf, fishing, watching birds, and grilling as his favorite pastimes. He was an avid Ole Miss fan and member of the Sigma Nu fraternity.

Jeffrey is survived by his devoted wife, Bette Wood Butler, of whom would have celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary in September; his son, Jeffrey Scott Butler and his wife, Elaine Clarke Butler of Frisco, TX; his daughter, Kimberly Butler Pickering and her husband Robert Mitchell Pickering of Memphis, TN; two grandsons, Crosby Lynn Butler and his wife Heather McManigal Butler of Frisco, TX; William Choate Pickering and his wife Taylor Sockwell Pickering of Memphis, TN; a granddaughter, Ashley Butler Partin and her husband Cooper Lanier Partin of Aubrey, TX; and two great-grandchildren, Gentry Lynn Butler, and Bette Cate Pickering.
