Mr. Andy Turner Arant, Jr., 64, died Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at his home in Oxford, MS. The funeral will be Monday, August 8, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Rev. Stephen Sparks officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 9:00 A.M in West Hall at Waller Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 P.M. at Lehrton Cemetery in Ruleville, MS.

Mr. Arant was born March 9, 1958, in Greenwood, MS to the late Turner and Sybil Arant. A graduate of Mississippi State University, he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, before attending The University of Mississippi School of Law. Mr. Arant opened his own firm, Arant Law Firm, in Oxford, MS where he practiced for many years. He was a member of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church and the Kiwanis Club of Oxford, and was Boy Scout Scoutmaster of Troop 146 for 10 years. While Mr. Arant loved calling Oxford home, he remained a faithful fan of the Mississippi State Bulldogs. He had a heart for mission work, traveling to Honduras to devote his time and effort to those in need. A talented cook, Mr. Arant found great joy in preparing meals for his family, who lovingly referred to him as their very own Master Chef.

Mr. Arant is survived by his wife, Debbie Prysock Arant of Oxford, MS; daughters, Kathryn “Libby” McCloud and her husband, Josh of Tupelo, MS and Rebecca Arant of Oxford, MS; son, Robert Kirk Arant of Oxford, MS; sisters, Carol Robertson of Indianola, MS and Kathryn Anne Arant of Bellevue, WA; and one granddaughter, Lindsey Gillis of Oxford, MS.

  1. So sorry to hear of Andy’s passing. To say I’m shocked would be an understatement. I guess I thought he would always be here. He was such a good man. My high years at IA would not have been the same without his intellect and his wit. My condolences to all of Andy’s family and close friends.
