Jeanette Payne Pickering, 79, departed this life to live eternally with her Creator and Savior from NMMC in Tupelo.  She was born June 1, 1943 in Pontotoc County to Cecil Payne and Melba Bramlett Payne Ethridge. Her second dad was Edmond Ethridge who raised her from age 10.  She spent her early years working in the garment industry and later was a master cook at Miss Ruth’s Restaurant.  Her specialty was fried chicken.    Jeanette was a mighty woman of God who loved intensely God and her family.  She enjoyed walking before her health failed and traveling. Jeanette was an inspiration to many and impacted the lives of all who knew her. Her life is a testimony that will live on through her family. Her strong yet tender spirit not only helped her overcome obstacles of life, but also inspired all who had the blessing of knowing her. She will be greatly missed but we know she is in the presence of the Father and completely healed.

A service celebrating her life will be held at 2 PM Sunday, September 25, 2022 from the Sadie Holland Memorial Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo with  Bro. Sammy Hardin officiating.  Private burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Pontotoc Co.

Visitation will be from Noon-service time on Sunday only, all at Holland-which is honored to be serving their friends. For those unable to attend, the service may be viewed at www.hollandfuneraldirectors.com/Livestreaming at 2 PM and will be archived thereafter.

She was survived by her husband of 55 years, Kenneth Z. Pickering. Two sons: Kenny Pickering (Jackie) and Tracy Pickering (Crystal) all of Pontocola: 6 Grand children whom Mamaw Nette loved: Tyler, Kristin, Alex, Anna, Hailey, Addison; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 honorary great-grandchildren; her twin sister Margaret Rutledge; her brother, Roger Payne and many nieces and nephews, cousins and several other half brothers and sisters.

Jeanette was preceded in death by 3 grandchildren, her parents, her brother, Charles Ethridge, and many beloved family members
