Nannie Lou Bright Collins Baker met her Creator on Saturday evening, October 8, 2022 from her longtime Old Union Community residence.  She would have been 90 on March 3, 2023. Nan, as she was known to many, was born in Shannon and grew up in the Brewer Community, the daughter of Luther Bright and Ruth Parchman Bright.  She graduated from Shannon High School and married Felix Collins. He died in l974 and she married Charles Baker, who died in 2020.  Nan worked as office manager for Campbell’s Truck Line/Roadway for over 30 years retiring in l976.  She loved her work and was totally devoted to it.  After her marriage to Charles, they became regulars at area flea markets buying, selling and trading their wares.  She enjoyed sewing early in life and had been a faithful, committed member of the Old Union Baptist Church for years where she was a former Sunday school teacher, pianist and organist.

A service celebrating her life will be held at 1 PM Tuesday, October 11, 2022 from the Sadie Holland Memorial Chapel at Holland Funeral Directors with her former pastor, Bro. Bob O’Neal officiating.  Burial will follow in Lee Memorial Park.  Visitation will be begin at Noon on Tuesday only.  For those unable to attend, the service may be viewed at www.hollandfuneraldirectors.com/Livestreaming at 1 PM Tuesday and will be permanently archived thereafter.

She is survived by her son, Herbert “Herb” Collins and wife, Peggy of Old Union; her two grandchildren, Scotty Collins (Kerry) and Jason Collins (Sheree) and her great grandchildren, Michael, Nathan, Alex, Carson and Jaycee Collins; her brother, Jerry Bright (Judy) of Tupelo; and her sister, Lynda Kelley of Brewer. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Felix and Charles and a grandson, Michael Collins.

Pallbearers will be grandson’s and great grandson’s, Scotty, Jason, Michael, Nathan, Alex  and Carson Collins.  Honorary pallbearers will be her great granddaughter, Jaycee Collins and special cousins, Huey and Linda Collins.
