Mrs. Marilyn Elizabeth Cartwright Martin, 78, died Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at her home in Oxford, MS. The family is planning a memorial service to be held at a later date.
Mrs. Martin was born on November 28, 1943, in Hammond, IN to the late Howard and Winifred Cartwright. A retired teacher from the Oxford and Lafayette County School Systems, she was passionate about early education and made an impact on the lives of the children she taught. Mrs. Martin was a beloved member of North Oxford Baptist Church. She was a member of the church’s choir for over 20 years, and lovingly devoted her time to teaching the children’s choir. In her spare time, Mrs. Martin enjoyed genealogy research, spending hours mapping out different branches and past generations of family.
Mrs. Martin is survived by her husband, Bill Martin of Oxford, MS; daughters, Marcia Parsons and her husband, Tim of Conroe, TX, Maria Young of Oxford, MS, and Megan Robinson and her husband, Mark of Oxford, MS; son, Seth Martin and his wife, Kathryn of Charlotte, NC; sister, Elaine Webster of Amarillo, TX; brother, Kenneth Cartwright and his wife, Annie of Denton, TX; as well as 13 grandchildren.
